The Jones & Horan Return Policy:

Unlike most auction houses, we 100% guarantee our descriptions and condition reports and offer a return policy. Therefore, if we make an error in our listing, we will accept the lot back for a 100% refund PLUS the cost of return shipping. We only ask that you notify us of the issue within 10 days of your receipt of the lot. (That being said, we understand sometimes there are extenuating circumstances, so if the 10 days have passed but you have been traveling or otherwise indisposed, please contact us.)

Please note we do
NOT offer refunds under the following conditions:
  • Buyer's remorse: If a buyer simply changes his/her mind about purchasing an item, we will not accept the return.
  • Buyer mistake: If a buyer did not read all of our listing or misread portions, we still expect the buyer to complete the sale and will not accept a return.
  • Altered lot: If the lot is altered (parts removed, etc) upon receipt by us, we will not accept the return and will send the lot back to the buyer.
  • Hidden defect: We do not disassemble watches in order to describe them. We are not responsible for hidden defects that could not be observed without disassembling the watch (including removing hands and dial, removing movement plates, etc.)
  • Extract: We are not responsible if a watch company chooses not to issue an extract.
  • Incomplete lot return: In cases of a multiple-part lot, such as a lot of three pocket watches, ALL of the items must be returned for the refund. We do not offer partial refunds or try to determine the value of one piece out of the lot. All watches are different, so dividing the lot by three (such as in the above example) will not give a fair value. All of the items must be returned.
  • Timing: If an extended amount of time has passed since the buyer purchased the lot, we will not accept the return.
  • Partial refunds: We do not offer partial refunds. Lots must be returned for the full refund.
  • Buyer stipulated USPS shipping in writing for a package valued at more than $500: As stated in our shipping policy, we urge all to use FedEx Express for packages valued more than $500. Jones & Horan is not responsible or liable for the package once it is scanned by the USPS, if the package is valued over $500, and our return policy no longer applies and is void. (See our “Shipping” page.)

Please never hesitate to contact our team with any concerns!

Differences between our FEATURED auctions and our ONLINE-ONLY auctions:

Both types of auction begin the same, with absentee online bidding. A few other differences are:

  • Our FEATURED auctions are held twice each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Our ONLINE-ONLY auctions are held bi-weekly, with brief hiatuses surrounding the two live auctions and at Christmas time. We also hold special online-only auctions with the same terms as our regular online-only auctions, including "Christmas in July," "Holiday Spectacular" at Christmas time, and occasional pop-up specialty auctions.
  • Consignor checks are mailed out TWO weeks after an Online-only Auction and FOUR weeks after a Featured Auction.

Check our "
Future Auctions List" page to always stay informed!

FAQ page for our Frequently Asked Questions!

FEATURED Auction:

Bidding indicates acceptance of these terms:

  • There is No Buyer’s Premium and No Sales Tax. Please watch our video: The Jones & Horan “No Buyer’s Premium Advantage”.
  • All lots are sold without reserves.
  • Payment is due within 10 days of receiving the invoice. (Invoices are e-mailed the day after an auction is held, or in the case of no email address, are sent USPS First class mail.) The auction house will not be held responsible for any errors or failures to accurately execute absentee bids.
  • When bidding online, there is a cap of $10,000 on each bid. If you wish to place a bid over $10,000 on an item, please contact us more than 24 hours in advance of the auction’s end time.
  • The auctioneer has the sole right to settle disputed bids and decide whether or not to reoffer the lot, and the record of sale kept by the auction house will be taken as final in the event of any dispute. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject an opening bid that, in his or her opinion, is not commensurate with the value of the lot.
  • The auctioneer will not be liable for default by either the buyer or the vendor. We will witness against any default should legal action be necessary. As a registered bidder you agree that any legal action against Jones and Horan will be brought in the courts of the State of New Hampshire or a federal court sitting therein.
  • Payment may be made by cash (in person), check, bank wire transfer, Zelle, Wise, Paypal or GlobalPay. We cannot accept credit cards directly, but credit card payments may be made through either GlobalPay (no account needed!) or Paypal (an account with them is needed.) A 3% processing fee applies to payments made through PayPal or GlobalPay; you may disregard this fee if paying by any other method than PayPal or GlobalPay. To pay in person, please make an appointment with us during business hours.
  • Statements by us in the catalog or made orally are statements of opinion and are not to be relied on as statements of fact. Such statements do not constitute warranty or assumption of liability by us of any kind. They are for guidance only and items should be evaluated by the bidder.
  • Jones and Horan Auction Team uses the following Standard Bid Increments at their Featured Auctions. All bids received that are not entered according to our Standard Bid Increments will be rounded down to the next lower bid increment. For more information, please see our FAQ.

Online-Only Auction:

Bidding indicates acceptance of these terms:

  • There is No Buyer’s Premium and No Sales Tax. Watch our video: The Jones & Horan “No Buyer’s Premium Advantage”.
  • Payment is due within 10 days of receiving invoice. Invoices are emailed the evening of a sale or the morning following, if you are a winning bidder. (Please check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive an invoice, especially if your email is a gmail account.)
  • The auction house reserves the right to cancel and/or reopen the auction in the case of system failures. The auction house also reserves the right to hold property until check clears and to refuse to register questionable clients.
  • There is a cap of $10,000 on each bid. If you wish to place a bid over $10,000 on an item, please contact us more than 24 hours in advance of the auction’s end time.
  • When placing a bid, please note that EVEN IF the bid is accepted, it does not necessarily mean you are now the high bidder. (Another bidder may have previously bid higher than your current bid, so he/she is the high bidder.)
  • If you have any issues with an item or shipment, please contact us immediately and we will resolve the problem. ALL DESCRIPTIONS GUARANTEED, 10-DAY RETURN PRIVILEGE FOR MISREPRESENTATION OR ERRORS. Please see the top of this page for our full Return Policy.
  • The auctioneer will not be liable for default by either the buyer or the vendor. We will witness against any default should legal action be necessary.
  • LAST MINUTE BIDDERS: Please be aware that this bidding system is not as responsive as some other online auction forums with which you may already be familiar. If you attempt to bid in the very last seconds, there is a possibility the system will not recognize your bid in time and you will lose out on winning that lot. Please allow yourself enough time to get your bid in before the lot closes.
  • Payment may be made by cash (in-person only), check, bank wire transfer, Paypal, GlobalPay, or Transferwise (or by cash if picking up in person). No credit cards are accepted directly; however, credit car payments can be made through Paypal (with an account) or GlobalPay (an account is not required). Jones & Horan is not set up to accept credit cards directly. A 3% processing fee applies to payments made through PayPal or GlobalPay; you may disregard this fee if paying by any other method.
  • Statements by us in the catalog or made orally are statements of opinion and are not to be relied on as statements of fact. Such statements do not constitute warranty or assumption of liability by us of any kind. They are for guidance only and items should be evaluated by the bidder.
  • Jones and Horan Auction Team uses the following Standard Bid Increments at their Online Auctions. All bids received that are not entered according to our Standard Bid Increments will be rounded down to the next lower bid increment.

    • $501 – $1,000 in $50 increments
